Understanding More About Your Donors

You and your donors are tightly bound to your living and work spaces where many connections linking people and places go unnoticed. These environments are rich with information about values, attitudes, preferences, and personality. Join us on September 13 as Sam Gosling, PhD., Professor of Psychology, University of Texas at Austin, presents research unraveling the links between people and the worlds they craft around themselves. This valuable knowledge will provide more insight for all fundraisers to learn about the environment of not only themselves but also their donors.

Sam Gosling, PhD., Professor of Psychology, University of Texas at Austin

AFP Sam Gosling

Sam Gosling, is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. He did his doctoral work at the University of California at Berkeley, where he his dissertation focused personality in spotted hyenas. Gosling has published broadly on the topics of Internet-based methods of data collection and personality in human and non-human animals. His non-human research has also examined dogs, cats, chimpanzees, and squid. His human research has looked at how human personality is manifested in everyday contexts like bedrooms, offices, webpages, music preferences, and social-media; this latter work is described in his book, “Snoop: What Your Stuff Says About You.” His work has been widely covered by the media and he is the recipient of the American Psychological Association's Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution and Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s Diener Mid-Career Award.
