CFRE Review Course in Austin - Summer 2017

The official CFRE Review Course was developed by AFP International to assist development professionals achieve the CFRE credential. The course is offered in Austin by the AFP – Greater Austin Chapter every other year.

The official CFRE Review Course provides an overview of the main components of a complete fundraising program. It is an excellent review for development officers with experience in all phases of an advanced program; covers areas that development officers with specialized experience may not have encountered; and also provides an excellent outline of a development program for those new to the profession who aspire to earn the CFRE once they are eligible to sit for the exam.

Organized around the domains of the exam, the course is a two-day, intensive program providing an overview of the skills, techniques, and program components encountered by professionals with at least five years of experience. The manual included with the course contains articles, forms, test taking tips, and sample exam questions provided by CFRE International. Faculty is comprised of local Certified Fund Raising Executives.

  • Why Philanthropy? An Overview of Fundraising & Its Concepts
  • Current & Prospective Donor Research
  • Marketing and Communications for Fundraising & Development
  • Developing a Comprehensive Solicitation Program
  • Building and Sustaining Relationships
  • Securing the Gift
  • Volunteer Involvement
  • Management
  • Accountability

Participants receive:

  • Participant manual
  • Approximately 14 hours of instruction by local CFREs
  • A certificate of completion at the end of the course
  • Opportunity to identify a study buddy from other class participants
  • 13.75 points of CFRE credit in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.
