Mentorship Program

AFP Mentorship Fellows Program (2018)

Are you new to fundraising and looking for a friend and mentor in the profession? Perhaps you're looking to move in a new direction within the field of fundraising or expand your current fundraising skills. Or, are you an experienced fundraiser and want to help a newcomer to the field? The AFP Austin Mentorship Fellows Program is a terrific way to give back to those who are seeking someone to bounce ideas off of, to increase your skills and confidence as a newcomer to the field, or to navigate a new or unexpected challenge along your career.

We are currently accepting applications for the next cohort of AFP Protégés and Mentors. Matches will be made in December and program will begin with a kickoff breakfast in January 2018. Applicants must be a member of the AFP-Austin chapter. In the application process, you will be asked to identify why you are seeking a mentor. Reasons may include:

  • I am interested in diversifying my development skills
  • I am interested in increasing racial/cultural diversity among my board, volunteer and donor base.
  • I would like assistance charting my career path.
  • I am new to the area and need to build a network of people for assistance for specific projects.
  • Other

Please note, each cohort will consist of only 10 pairs and not all applicants may receive a formal mentor through AFP. We will be in contact mid-December to let you know the status.
