April has over 20 years’ experience in the  nonprofit and public sector in Central Texas.  She serves as the Stewardship and Planned Giving Director at the St. David’s Episcopal Church in downtown Austin. Please join April at St. David’s at the Holy Grounds Coffee Shop, Wednesday Noon Meditation, and at Café Divine’s Thursday Public Lunch.

April began her career as a social worker in child welfare and gravitated toward resource development as she witnessed first-hand the positive effects of life changing human service programs for children and families. She has been licensed as a clinical social worker (LCSW) since 1999, certified as a Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2014, and earned the Indiana University Certificate in Fund Raising Management (CFRM) in 2018. April has served as the Director of Development at Mental Health America of Texas, as the Director of Foundation Relations at Austin Children’s Shelter, and the Executive Director of Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center.

She has served on the AFP Board and several committees including Finance, Membership, Philanthropy Day, and Outreach.

“The first time I attended an AFP luncheon, I felt I had found my people. Since then has AFP taught me both the major principals and the little nuances of special events, major gifts, capital campaigns, and more. The best thing about being an AFP Member is the ongoing camaraderie with colleagues. I know I can call on my AFP friends to bounce ideas or ask for sound advice. Joining AFP has been the singularly best professional decision of my career.”

April and her husband Ron live in Central Austin with their son Rex and Golden Retriever Lola. April and Ron are proud McCallum High School Band Boosters and supporters of Helping Our Neighbors (HON) Ministry at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
