Join facilitator Catherine Herter Ervin for a lively discussion about real-life fundraising horror stories from Greater Austin development profe ssionals and find ways to avoid future horrors through effective policies, guidelines, and best practices. C atherine Herter Ervin is the Director of Development and Communications at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, an independent K-12 school with two campuses in central and southwest Austin. A member of the Development team since 20 03, Catherine is responsible for all aspects of institutional advancement, including fundraising, strategic planning, special events, parent relations , alumni relations, communications, media and public relations. She manage s a staff of six fundraisers and communications professionals and serves as the staff liaison to the Parent Association and Board of Trustees. She ha s been a member of AFP for more than a decade, has served in the Women’s Sy mphony League, Women Communicators of Austin, the Council for Advancement a nd Support of Education (CASE), Komen-Austin Advisory Board Member, Young F undraising Mentor, and is a past Board Member and Secretary of All Saints E piscopal Day School.
Prior to her work at St. Andrew’s, Catherine had an eight-year career in public relations, advertising and broadcast journa lism, working at WFAA-Dallas and CBS-Houston before moving to the non-profi t world. An Air Force brat who went to three different high schools on thr ee continents, Catherine settled in Austin in the early 90’s to attend the University of Texas. She and her husband Jeff have three (busy) children: Sofiya, Lucy and Max - plus one dog and a leopard gecko - and when not driv ing them up and down Mopac or cheering them on at soccer, volleyball, flag football or theater performances, they enjoy traveling, cooking, college fo otball and photography.
