Catherine (Herter) Ervin has over 25 years of experience in fundraising, public and community relations, journalism, media and crisis communications training, marketing, and advertising. She is the Director of Advancement at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, an independent K-12 school with two campuses in central and southwest Austin. A member of the St. Andrew’s Advancement Team since 2003, Catherine manages a staff of six fundraisers and communications professionals and is responsible for all aspects of institutional advancement, including fundraising, strategic planning, special events, parent and alumni relations, communications, media and public relations.  She has been a member of AFP for more than a decade and a member of the AFP Greater Austin Chapter Board for three years. She has also served in the Women’s Symphony League, Women Communicators of Austin, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), as a Komen-Austin Advisory Board Member, Young Fundraising Mentor, and is a past Board Member of All Saints Episcopal Day School.

Prior to her work at St. Andrew’s, Catherine had an eight-year career in public relations, advertising and broadcast journalism, working at WFAA-Dallas, CBS-Houston and The News of Texas before moving to the non-profit world.  A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Political Science and Communications, she and her husband Jeff have three (busy) children - plus two dogs and a leopard gecko - and when not driving them up and down Mopac or cheering them on at soccer, rowing, volleyball or theater performances, they enjoy long road trips, trying new recipes (the more complicated, the better!), live music, home renovation projects, college football and photography.
